A Mentor, Coach, and Friend.

About the Program

We are a program aspiring to help increase our city's elementary school reading levels by mobilizing volunteers to read with kids during their lunch period. We hope that if we connect these mentors with the at-risk kiddos we will give them a hope for their future, help them improve on their reading skills and give them a chance to have a successful life out of poverty and crime. We believe every child needs the chance to enhance their BRILLIANT minds, and with the help of the community, these children can have the extra support that they need to turn around the odds against them. If a child can read, they can learn anything! And our book buddies become a coach and friend that these kids need.

About The Director

Picture
Lindsay McClellan is the Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator of Brilliant Book Clubs. She started the program in 2017 after her church hired her to implement a book buddy program for just a single failing school and found that there were thousands of other kids at hundreds of schools in her city needing similar help. She is married to Ryan and they have one son, Clancy. She is currently launching into the rest of the Oklahoma City area hoping to turn around the most daunting statistics of education in our nation. She hopes that with the help of volunteers, these kids can find that they are able to be brilliant!
